The Trust, at the invitation of the Monks Orchard Residents Association, attended a meeting of Ashburton residents to present our proposals with regard to the Training Ground.
Recent publicity has highlighted Ashburton Playing Fields as the Trust’s preferred site for the Club’s new Training Ground, although we continue to keep a close eye on developments at another potential site, Turle Road in Norbury.

There have been a number of concerns raised by local residents and users of Ashburton Playing Fields as to the impact of any development on that site. The Trust was keen to present its proposals and to listen to those concerns. The meeting, held on Friday 17 June, was attended by around 90 local residents as well as Ward Councillors and Gavin Barwell, MP for Croydon Central. The Trust made its presentation and took questions from the floor. We would like to thank the Monks Orchard Residents Association for organising the meeting and giving us the opportunity to meet residents from the area.

After much consultation with CPFC, Dougie Freedman, the training staff, the architects, and Croydon Council we are about to enter into a pre-planning process with [Croydon] the Council with regard to our proposals for Ashburton Playing Fields. During this process we will continue to engage with the local community and keep members up-to-date with our progress.

There will be further public meetings for residents living near to Ashburton Playing Fields. The next is planned for July 13th at the Oasis Academy, which is adjacent to the proposed site.
