Supporters Direct ICM poll shows that fans “want major reform of football”

Definitive survey demands FA intervention, criticises poor finances, calls for fan involvement in clubs. In a poll published today by Supporters Direct, and undertaken by leading market research company ICM Research, fans of English clubs have backed Supporters Direct’s call for fan involvement in the ownership of football clubs, with nearly 40% agreeing that football rules need to change to enable it.

Cork City FC: A beautiful story, 30 years old   Elected to the League of Ireland on July 1, the year 1984 saw the foundation of Cork City FC. Committed to continuing the long tradition of association football in Cork, City’s traditional colours are green and white with red trim, and the crest is a variant of the Cork coat of arms. Cork City FC have been crowned champions twice (1993 and 2005), as many times as they have won the FAI Cup (1998, 2007) and they have also won the League Cup three times (1988, 1995, 1999). Today, Cork City FC is challenging for the title – its most successful season to date under the ownership of FORAS. However, this is not the sole reason that keeps the fans excited and Turner’s Cross stands full. It is the relationship the club has with Cork’s local community, the feeling that the club belongs to the people of Cork, and the fact that it’s them to decide who runs their club by electing the members of the Board that only serves to strengthen the connection and identification the supporters have with the club.
