Best wishes and thanks to Roy and Ray
The Trust joins all Palace supporters in wishing Roy Hodgson and Ray Lewington all the very best for the future, following yesterday’s announcement that they will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Everyone will recall the club’s league position after seven games of the 2017-2018 season. At the time many had written Palace off as certainties for relegation. The turnaround under Roy that led to us finishing the season comfortably in mid-table was a truly remarkable achievement. Roy, ably supported by Ray, has brought the club four years of managerial stability and has provided a solid base on which the club can build.
It was a privilege to meet Roy when he attended the last Trust AGM and those present that night were greatly appreciative of the time he spent answering, with great insight, a wide variety of questions. Ray had done the same the year before, again greatly appreciated.
It’s a shame that Selhurst Park will not be at full capacity for what is likely to be an emotional evening. However, we know that the 6,500 in attendance will express their thanks to Roy and Ray and give them the send-off they so richly deserve.
